Mrs. Alabama International®

Allison Locke

1.Tell us a funny story about a date night out with your husband.
Adversity motivates me to try harder. The adversities, obstacles and troubles I have experienced in my lifetime have strengthened me. I believe there is no difficulty that cannot be overcome with faith, perseverance, and a positive attitude. When a difficult challenge confronts me, I channel the strength Ive gained from adversity and conquer the hindrance. I am a true believer that true happiness and strength can only be found on the other side of adversity.

2.What are the (2) most important things in your kitchen and why?
After surviving a life-threatening heart condition, I appreciate the little joys in life. A perfect day starts with waking up before my alarm goes off to the sounds of birds chipping outside my window. I would spend the afternoon riding down old country dirt roads on the Kubota with my husband and our fur babies then ending the day with a bonfire surrounded by family, friends, and great food.

3.What do people assume about you that isn’t true?
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I am blessed with the amazing opportunity to directly impact lives every day. I pride myself in a caring sympathetic bedside manner. Sometimes making difference is providing a lifesaving treatment and sometimes it's providing a hug or a shoulder to cry on. Being a Heart Survivor of 13 years, Advocate for Go Red For Women and NP, drives me to make a difference in peoples' lives each day.

4.Tell us a time you demonstrated leadership skills.
My most treasured item is my Grandmother Forehands bible. It was gifted to me after she passed. I have the fondest memories of her reading her devotionals and writing down notes on the pages. When I need her sweet wisdom or to feel close to her, I simply open that bible and she is with me, sharing words of wisdom and comfort. Her influence and that bible have truly shaped the woman I am today.
