1.When you hear the saying "be the change" what comes to your mind first?
We all have 24 hours in a day. If we choose to spend that time making a positive difference we can “be the change” and set an example for others. That is what I try do daily and I am encouraged by witnessing our children following our example.
2.How would you describe your husband?
James is devoted: to his family, his friends, and to his country. He is my best friend, my biggest supporter and the co-founder our non-profit Operation Little Angel 101: Hope After Loss. Together as a couple, we help couples when they need it most, after the loss of a child. James is devoted to helping other couples just like us, as well as to our nation, to me and to our children.
3.If you could revisit one memory as a child in your mind, what would it be and why?
As a child, I watched a pageant on TV every year with my grandmother. We made tinfoil crowns and she would always tell me see could see me one day on the stage. Finding International Pageants that align with me spiritually, with my passion for community service, not to mention the glam - I have traded in that tinfoil crown for one made of hard work and dedication.
4.How would someone describe you when you were in high school?
The real deal. It has been the greatest compliment to have people message me today and tell me that who I am in person is who I present myself as on social media. Living life with authenticity isn’t an option - it’s who I am. Although I may no longer be a Science Olympiad or Head Cheerleader, as I was in high school, it’s great to know that after 25 years, I remain the real deal.
5.If money did not matter.. what would you buy for your husband and why?
I would select something outside the traditional ribboned box - an experience instead of a material gift. He loves spending time and traveling to far-off places as a family. I am envisioning a unique getaway to the Galapagos where we could all peacefully reconnect with nature, while also experiencing new and exciting sights and sounds. Those memories will last a lifetime.
